Mary Kom Promoting Sports After Olympic Medal Run

After doing the country proud with her bronze medal winning feat at the London Olympics, MC Mary Kom is promoting sports among the children of the country.

On the National Sports Day, the five-time world champion boxer, Mary Kom, called for more play grounds in the country. At the event, the ace Manipuri boxer spoke about the importance of open fields where children can play and hone their sporting skills.

She also insisted that parents, especially mothers should persuade their children to go out and involve in some physical activities like cricket, tennis, golf or athletics, instead of letting them spend all their time in front of the TV, play stations or keeping themselves busy in studies.

Donning a casual look (blue jeans, slippers and a white Tshirt), the Kombat queen was seen trying her hand at hockey with kids. Also accompanying her at the event were celebrity moms Suchitra Pillai, Mandira Bedi, Rajeshwari Badola and Mansi Roy.

The ladies put their sporty foot forward while posing together for the shutterbugs and showing solidarity for the cause.

They expressed their concerns about the lack of physical activities in daily routines of children and also how space-starved Indian cities are being modernised at the expense of parks and play grounds. All those who attended the event also went on a march on Mumbai streets to create awareness for the same.
