Wynn Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas, NV - BoxingScene caught up with Sergio Martinez's trainer Pablo Sarmiento to get his thoughts on their upcoming fight against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. The fight takes place at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las vegas and will be broadcast by HBO pay-per-view.
Its no secret that Chavez has struggled to make weight in some of his recent fights. He routinely rehydrates to over 180 pounds on fight night after squeezing down to the 160 pound weight limit the day before.
Sarmiento said that he isn't concerned with Chavez's weight and actually hopes that the Mexican fighter balloons up in weight as he usually does. He said that the weight gain plays right into their hands.
"I know he usually weighs 180 to 185 pounds. For me I hope he weighs 190. The heavier that Chavez is on Saturday, the better for us. There will be more for us to hit. That is what we want. He will be there to be hit and he will be slow," Sarmiento told BoxingScene.
