Marquez: We'll Review Every Option, Pacquiao Only One

By Miguel Rivera

Former champion Juan Manuel Marquez (55-6-1, 40KOs), along with promoter Fernando Beltran of Zanfer Promotions, plan to review every reasonable offer before making a final decision on the opponent and the details of Mexican star's next fight. Marquez recently stated that he doesn't have any interest in fighting Manny Pacquiao (54-5-2, 38KOs) for a fifth time.

"I think for me there is no point [in a fifth fight]. We already achieved the desired result. Then why do it? So I also asked several people, several friends that I have around me and they told me not to do it, that there is no point in a fifth fight. I said before the fourth fight that no matter how this fight ends, there can not be a fifth," Marquez said.

Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum told BoxingScene.com that he believes Marquez will indeed accept a fifth meeting with Pacquiao, widely considered as the most financially lucrative option for both boxers.

Regarding his possible opponents, Marquez says Pacquiao is not the only option out there for him. It's hard to imagine who Marquez could fight, besides Pacquiao, and make an eight figure purse.

"[Pacquiao], that is only one option. We'll review every option and then decided what we're going to do. We're going to analyze everytjing. I still feel very good, I do want to fight again, but nothing has been determined [about my return]. We'll see what happens," Marquez said.
