Marquez vs. Vazquez Card is Supported By Ten Fights

“The War, Puerto Rico vs Mexico”, with former world champions Wilfredo Vázquez Jr. and Rafael Marquez, will present 10 bouts on August 4, at the Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, in a PR Best Boxing Promotions (PRBBP) presentation, in association with All Star Boxing, Top Rank and Promociones Zanfer, to be televised on Pay Per View.

“We completed the show with 10 bouts and great Puerto Rican prospects”, promoter Ivan Rivera, PRBBP president, said. “We will have former world champions as Wilfredo Vazquez Jr., Rafael Marquez and Rocky Martinez in regional title fights and also world contenders like Miguel Beltran Jr., Juan Mercedes and Jorge Melendez in action. There will be a great card”.  

Here are the fights:

Scheduled to 12 rounds, Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. (21-2-1, 18 KOs), former WBO super bantamweight champion, will face Rafael Marquez (41-7, 37 KOs), former IBF bantamweight and WBC superbantamweight champion, for the WBO International superbantamweight title and Roman “Rocky” Martinez (25-1-1, 16 KOs), former WBO junior lightweight champion, versus Miguel Beltran Jr. (27-1, 17 KOs), for the WBO NABO junior lightweight title, in a WBO world title eliminator; meanwhile, former Olympian McJoe Arroyo (10-0, 5 KOs) will face Miguel Tamayo (12-3-2, 11 KOs) for the super flyweight WBO NABO title in a bout scheduled to 10 rounds.

In an eight round bout, Juan Mercedes (26-3, 17 KOs), WBO #7 ranked at super flyweight, will fight a foe to be named. WBO #11 ranked in the junior middleweight division, Jorge “Destroyer” Melendez (23-2-1, 22 KOs) will face Mexican Victor Hugo Correa (14-5, 9 KOs) in a fight scheduled to six rounds.

Also in six round bouts, Osenohad “Cano” Vazquez (6-1, 2 KOs) will fight against Antonio “Anthony” Sanchez (5-1, 3 KOs) in the junior welterweight division. 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games Gold medalist, Camilo Perez (7-0, 4 KOs) will fight versus Angel Cruz (6-2-1, 4 KOs) at super bantamweight. Rey Ojeda (9-0, 4 KOs) will face Regino Canales (4-2, 1 KOs) at lightweight.

In a four round bout, Israel “El Heredero” Vazquez (6-0-2, 5 KOs), the brotehr of Wilfredo Vazquez Jr., will fight against Christian Lopez (3-3-1, 2 KOs) in the junior flyweight division, and junior welterweight prospect John Karl Sosa (2-0, 2 KOs) will face an opponent to be determined.

Damn good card IMO Two fights that promise fireworks and a pretty solid undercard all round. Can't wait for this one.
