WBA/WBO lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez (51-5-1, 37 KOs) continues to ask for something that he probably won't receive in the near future. As quoted by Ricardo Lois of the examiner, Marquez appeared on ESPN’s Golpe a Golpe and said that he was willing to face Manny Pacquiao at a catch weight between 140 and 147-pounds. Marquez would like a catch-weight of 143 or 144-pounds.

Marquez has a defense of his titles coming up on November 27 against Michael Katsidis in Las Vegas. Pacquiao moves up to junior middleweight to fight Antonio Margarito at Cowboys Stadium on November 13.

Strange to see Marquez suggest a catch-weight of 143 or 144. After he was dominated last year by Floyd Mayweather Jr., Marquez complained several times about moving up to welterweight to face Mayweather at a catch-weight of 143. He said the weight was too heavy for him and caused him to be too sluggish. It won't get any lighter against Pacquiao.
