Former four division world champion Juan Manuel "Dinamita" Marquez (56-7-1, 40KOs) has revealed that there have been discussions for a catch-weight bout with another former four division champion, Miguel Cotto (40-5, 33KOs) of Puerto Rico.

Marquez is still focused on doing two more fights, tentatively in May and September, and then he definitely wants to say goodbye to the ring.

Marquez, 42-years-old, has been out of the ring since winning a twelve round unanimous decision over former WBO junior welterweight champion Mike Alvarado at the Forum in Los Angeles. Since then Marquez has been dealing with a knee injury and rehabilitation to properly recover.

Marquez would still like to have his return in Mexico, possibly at Azteca Stadium or the Mexico City Arena.

"I talked to Cotto's people and told then about my situation and what I want. It appears that Cotto wants to fight in June, and I want to fight in May because two years of activity is a very important factor. I have to get on pace with a fight in May and then why not consider a fight with Cotto in September or October," Marquez was quoted as saying at a media conference with WBC.

The weight limit would have to be 147 to 150 pounds.

Marquez is training and watching how his body responds. If he intends to fight on a date in May, he says the details would have to be finalized on a date in March. He wants to be "100%" for this kind of opportunity.

Cotto has been out of the ring since last November's twelve round decision loss to Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez. He weighed 155-pounds for the fight.
