The World Boxing Association is pushing for their 112-pound champion, Hernan "Tyson" Marquez, to continue the negotiations for an internal unification with interim-champion Juan Carlos Reveco of Argentina. Marquez will climb into the ring at El Palenque in Culiacan on the 14th of July in a clash with Filipino Fernando Lumacad, scheduled for ten rounds at a catch-weight of 114 pounds.
Marquez and his promoter, Fernando Beltran of Zanfer, issued a recent statement where they made it clear that Reveco was not in their plans because they were focusing on Lumacad and then a fall clash with WBO champion Brian Viloria - to take place in late September or early October. Marquez is willing to drop his title for the fight with Viloria.
