Marquez Plans To Help Estrada Beat Omar Figueroa

By Salvador Rodriguez

Former four division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez is planning to return to the gym - but not to begin training for another fight. He plans to help Daniel Estrada (32-2-1, 24KOs) for a mandatory fight with WBC lightweight champion Omar Figueroa (23-0-1, 17KOs), which has a tentative date of August 16th.

Figueroa-Estrada could be part of Golden Boy Promotions' upcoming August 16th card at the StubHub Center in Carson, California. Shawn Porter will defend his IBF welterweight title against mandatory Kell Brook and WBC champion Sakio Bika will defend his title against Anthony Dirrell.

Estrada is one of the fighter who Marquez has taken under his wing, and he really wants to see the tough Mexican contender walk away with Figueroa's title.

"I'm going to give him advice, be in the corner with him, witnessing the fight, sharing the experience because it is a very important fight for him," Marquez said.
