Marquez Not Giving Hints About His Boxing Future

Juan Manuel Marquez fought with a broken nose before he knocked out Manny Pacquiao on Saturday night.

The Mexican, his face a bloody mess from Pacquiao’s barrage of lefts, came back from a fifth-round knockdown to win in the sixth round.

He immediately turned his attention to celebrating his first victory in four fights against the Filipino.

“I am very happy. This is a result of all the hard work I did," he said after the bout in Las Vegas. "This was one of my best victories.”

Marquez said he had almost retired after the loss to Pacquiao in November last year. “I was going to retire but now I am happy I didn't."

Pacquiao said he may fight the Mexican for a fifth time, but Marquez said all he wanted to do was enjoy the win and rest.

"I am not thinking about any fight. I just want to celebrate," he said, revealing that he had fought the last rounds with a broken nose.

"I don't know what is coming but I am going to rest and celebrate with my family and my friends in Mexico.

"I am just thinking of the celebration rather than who I am going to fight next."

Pacquaio is committed to fighting into 2013 but not after that. He also has his political future to consider.
