Former four division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez has left the door open for a possible fight with IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook of the UK. Marquez recently went to the UK to accompany his fighter, Daniel Estrada, who face Kevin Mitchell over the weekend. Mitchell and Brook share the same promoter in Eddie Brook, but there were no negotiations about a Brook fight.
Marquez, 41-years-old, has yet to make a decision regarding his future. He is recovered from a knee injury and still going through rehab. After his knee recovers, he will make a decision on his future.
"I've started some therapies to see how knee responds and when that finishes then we will decide [on my future]," said Juan Manuel to ESPN Deportes. "If I have the desire to return, we are not closing the door to anyone and not closing the door to [Brook]. If there is a possibility to fight for a fifth title, in due course we will evaluate the possibilities of what may happen. The truth is I have not seen [Brook fight], but if we attempt to reach our goal to win a fifth world title and attempt to make history, then we will analyze him. He's a good fighter, undefeated and [fights] very often in England."
