Markham Targets a Fall Showdown With Buglioni

Grays’ super middleweight Lee “Banjo” Markham has many targets on his agenda but one that he wants this year is a domestic clash with Frank Buglioni.

Markham has rattled of seven wins (six by stoppage) since signing with Steve Goodwin and is now ready to move up a level to take on Buglioni.

“Buglioni is the one I want but I need to be made mandatory for the Southern Area title first”.

Promoter Steve Goodwin explained: “We have been offered this fight before as a voluntary but this does not work for us. Accepting a voluntary means we are in no position to negotiate terms that are best for Lee. Once the bout goes to mandatory it can go to purse bids and we have substantial backing to stage this fight. In addition Eddie Hearn and Matchroom have shown significant interest in this fight and we are confident of winning the purse bids.”

Lee continued “All I want to do now is box the best. I am confident of beating Frank before going on to bigger titles but as my manager says we do things the right way”.

Promoter Goodwin finished by saying “On Twitter Frank Bulgioni has said he wants a £30,000 side stake which we would be happy to accommodate in principal either by a winner takes all payday or some other basis that the Board of Control will accept. The money is there.”
