Marcos Maidana Agrees: Erik Morales Deserves a Rematch

By Chris LaBate

Marcos Maidana (30-2, 27 KOs) is ready to present Erik Morales (51-7, 35 KOs) with a rematch of Saturday's epic battle. Almost every expert picked Maidana to win by knockout in the first six rounds, but the Mexican warrior put on a "fight of the year" performance and nearly pulled off an upset at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The three judges gave Maidana the victory with a twelve round majority decision.

"The Morales fight was very tough and I think it was very good for the public. We knew it would not be easy. Hats off to Erik. If Morales wants a rematch, we can give him one at any time because he deserves it. But right now I want to celebrate, because I'm a world champion," said Maidana, who picked up the WBA's interim-140 pound title with the win.

[QUOTE=SluggerFan;10360569]Well, they say, every great fighter has one great fight left. Do you think that was Morales' last great fight? Man, if that eye wouldn't have shut he probably would have won. I don't know if he could withstand another…
