David Lemieux conquerer Marco Antonio Rubio (50-5-1, 43 KO’s) is likely to face Argentinian Ricardo Marcelo Ramallo (11-3-1, 7 KO’s) on June 4th in Mexico after original opponent Jairo Siris was reported to have had his license to box revoked in his native Colombia on medical grounds.
The 30 year-old has been top form since losing a unified middlewight title challenge against Kelly Pavlik in February 2009, winning his last eight bouts, with seven knockouts, including stoppages of Rigoberto Alvarez and the previously undefeated Canadian David Lemieux (25-1). The latter fight being a WBC 160lb title eliminator, putting the Mexican first in line to face the winner of Sebastian Zbik v Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, who square off on the same night for the championship.
“El Veneno” can afford no slip-ups next week and will hope to finalize his second world title challenge later this year.
