Man Watches Canelo-Trout, Then Murders His Wife

According to a report by Peninsula Deportiva, Victor Manuel Amaro Lopez, 30-years-old, was arrested early Sunday morning for the murder of his wife in Merida, Mexico.

The Ministry of Public Security and Police report that Lopez and his wife, 28-year-old Cecilia Isabel Carrillo Bote, were drinking alcohol and watching Saturday's junior middleweight unification between Saul Alvarez and Austin Trout.

During the fight, the wife informed her husband that she wanted a divorce.

Lopez was apparently a diehard boxing fan, because the rub of the entire incident is the fact that local authorities are reporting that Lopez waited until the conclusion of Canelo-Trout before grabbing a kitchen knife and fatally stabbing his wife over her mid-fight divorce threat.

Poor timing on the wife's part. Perhaps the consequence was a bit extreme though. He must've been wanting to kill her for some time and she gave him the ultimate reason, in his mind.
