BoxingScene.com has been advised that WBA welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi's return to the ring may take place on May 18th in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates against his undefeated mandatory challenger Diego Chaves (22-0, 18KOs).

Golden Boy and Malignaggi's management team are currently in negotiations to see if a deal can be completed to bring the fight to the Middle Eastern country.

Malignaggi (32-4, 7KOs) originally was going to defend his title against former three division champion Shane Mosley on April 27th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY but the fight fell apart due to monetary issues.

doubt the fight is staged in abu dhabi. it'd be cool if it was, but it's been talked about before by gbp, yet nothing ever materialized. hopefully gbp can secure malignaggi a good fight. it's really a shame malignaggi/maidana didn't get signed, both guys wanted it. chaves would be a good opponent...

[QUOTE=bigcursedawg]I disagree. He was brought in as a easy opponent twice by golden boy and almost won both of those fights. He should have won against Paulie. IMO his performance against Morales speaks volumes, he was very green, I think only 20 at the time and took it on a weeks notice and gav...
