Malignaggi: Broner Was Exposed, Only One Mayweather!

By Edward Chaykovsky

Former two division champion Paulie Malignaggi was very critical of Adrien Broner (27-1, 22KOs) in the aftermath of his first career loss, a twelve round unanimous decision to Marcos Maidana at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

Back in June, Broner moved up by two weight divisions to fight Malignaggi and he appeared to struggle at the welterweight limit. He was still able to win a close split decision to win the WBA crown.

Earlier tonight, Broner was dropped twice and hurt several times in the fight.

For the last two years, Broner was often called "the second coming of Floyd Mayweather Jr." and Malignaggi says Broner never deserved that title.

"This is boxing at a world class level. Broner had not been fighting that many world class fighters. When he did - he had trouble. Tonight he was fully exposed," Malignaggi said.

"I give him credit for his toughness and hanging in there, but that headbutt in the eight round wasn't that much. He was looking for a way out, he was looking to get Maidana DQ'd and I'm going to call him out on it."

"This proves tonight that there is only one Floyd Mayweather. A lot of people were looking for the next Floyd Mayweather. People were looking to crown Broner when he beat a lot of laundrymat workers. You can't anoint someone as the next Mayweather before he was crowned. There is one [Mayweather] and there will only be one."

[B][FONT="Century Gothic"][SIZE="3"][COLOR="Blue"]Being great is all about taking the necessary risks. It's about doing things no one thinks you can. In boxing, that translates to fighting the very best. In Broner's case, he dared to be great last night and took…

Paulie is 100% correct. Broner fought two upper level fightersbefore Mainada and both of them outworked him and gave him problems. He got the decision both times because he was not dominated by them like Maidana did him. Anyone who…
