Former 140-pound beltholder Marcos Maidana (34-3, 31KOs) is hungry to get a crack at the WBA welterweight champion Adrien Broner (27-0, 24KOs). Golden Boy Promotions is putting together a Showtime Pay-Per-View event on November 9th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, and Broner-Maidana is being targeted as the pay-per-view headliner.

"I hope to beat Broner on November 9 and then there are many other great fighters in my division for the future, God provided," Maidana said in a statement to BoxingScene.com. "I hope the Broner fight can be done soon so I don't have to listen to him talking trash anymore. I want Broner to talk inside the ring."

Maidana is very excited over his recent addition of powerful boxing advisor Al Haymon, who guides the careers of Broner, Floyd Mayweather Jr., Lucas Matthysse, Danny Garcia, Keith Thurman and at least 30 other boxers. Haymon will assist Maidana's longtime manager Sebastian Contursi.

"Everybody knows that Al Haymon has become a great force in boxing as an advisor. Along with my manager, Sebastian Contursi, we have been looking at Al's great job with many of the best boxers out there lately. So I'm proud of being part of his team now, along with my promoter Golden Boy Promotions. I hope to get the best possible fights and for sure Adrien Broner would be the first of those," Maidana said.

Contursi is also pleased with Haymon's addition to the team. The next order of business, says Contursi, is to get the ball rolling full steam with the Broner negotiations.

"Working along with Al is for sure a great move for Marcos career. The November 9th date has been thrown around and we like it. So we are eager for formal negotiations to start in the next few days. Hope we can get this fight done as everybody is interested. Marcos has been saying how badly he wants to be a world champion again and he'll have the opportunity to fulfill his dream against Broner," Contursi said.
