On the latest edition of The Boxing Lab (BoxingScene.com's official radio show) WBA "regular" junior welterweight champion Marcos Maidana discussed Erik Morales' scheduled fight Lucas Matthysse, which takes place on September 17th for the vacant WBC 140-pound championship.

Maidana won a close points decision over Morales in April. The Mexican icon has vowed to secure a rematch by beating Matthysse, but Maidana doesn't expect that to happen. Maidana believes his Argentinean countryman - whom he faced four times in the amateurs - is going to win by knockout.

"I see Matthysse knocking Morales out," Maidana said during Boxingscene's show.

Maidana's advisor Sebastian Concursi chimed by saying that, "Marcos and Lucas faced each other four times in the amateurs.  Marcos won three times and one time it was a draw."

Despite meeting so often in the non-pay ranks, Maidana insists their history together is just that - history.

"We are not friends but we are not rivals.  At least on my side there isn't a rivalry.  We spent a few years on the national team together and that is about it."
