Maidana Hopes To Gain Support of Mexico, Latin America

Marcos "Chino" Maidana wants the support of Mexico and all of Latin America in his quest to be the first fighter to hand Floyd Mayweather a defeat. This mega battle is on May 3rd at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas. The Argentine fighter will face the best pound for pound fighter for the WBC welterweight title, in combat that will be broadcasted live on Showtime Pay Per View.

"I hope to have the full support of Mexicans, Latinos and Hispanics. This fight will be very complicated and I am preparing very well to win. A victory over Mayweather would be the ultimate for me, apart from the recent birth of my daughter," said Marcos.

For Maidana the odds against him aren't a factor. Adrien Broner was heavily fancied to defeat him, but Marcos beat him convincingly.

"Mayweather is a master of the ring, if I take him to the ropes, I have the best opportunity to punish him with both hands," he explained.
