WBA welterweight champion Marcos Maidana (35-3, 31KOs) confirmed the recent statements that were made by his trainer, Robert Garcia. Maidana says a "knockout victory" was the team's main strategy in order to get his hand raised last Saturday night at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

Maidana took the fight to Adrien Broner (27-1, 22KOs) from the start of the first round and had Broner down by the second. He couldn't finish him off but then dropped Broner again in the eight, and again Broner wouldn't allow Maidana to close the show. While Maidana doubted his own ability to secure a win on points from the judges, he was awarded a comfortable twelve round unanimous decision.

"I knew that my possibilities of winning the fight were reduced to my punching power, because I didn't trust the scorecards," Maidana said. "This is what every boxer dreams of. This is why I broke my back in training. It is great to feel recognized and valued by the people of my country. I finished the year in an ideal manner. By beating Broner I now find myself in a very good position in my career and it's opened up the opportunity of fighting Floyd Mayweather," Maidana said.
NON-STOP PRESSURE. Once you decide to try to outbox a fighter who is as smart or smarter and faster than you, that's when you lose. Pressure is the key. That will have them either on defense all the time or have them take chances and thats when they can get punched.
It's...
Floyd didn't just call Manny out, he called him up! Manny turned down $40 Million dollars, which he is yet to make without PPVs. Whose last 3 opponents have been more impressive? Manny or Floyd's? If you think it was Manny's, then you don't know boxing.
40m is a joke o...
