LOS ANGELES - Before the HBO cameras roll for the highly anticipated February 25"Arch Enemies" doubleheader featuring hometown hero Devon Alexander "The Great" against Marcos "El Chino" Maidana and the WBO Junior Lighweight Word Championship fight between Adrien "The Problem" Broner and Eloy "Prince" Perez, unbeatens Sharif "The Lion" Bogere, Deontay "The Bronze Bomber" Wilder, Eddie Gomez, Keith Thurman and Christopher Pearson will head up a stacked eight-fight undercard that will keep fans at St. Louis' Scottrade Center entertained all night long.

The world championship committee of the World Boxing Asociation has approved Marcos Maidana's conditional request for his upcoming fight with Devon Alexander, which takes place on February 25th in St. Louis, Missouri. Maidana, the WBA's "regular" champion at 140-pounds, will fight Alexander at the welterweight limit of 147. Maidana (31-2, 28KOs) submitted the conditional request to ensure that his upcoming fight with Alexander (22-1, 13KOs) will not jeopardize his title status at 140. The move may indicate Maidana's desire to return to the junior welterweight division in 2012.

Next weekend’s upcoming welterweight bout between Devon Alexander and Marcos Maidana caught some unexpected attention on Tuesday when news was leaked of the demand from Maidana’s camp for random drug testing to take place.

It goes without saying that Devon Alexander needs to make a statement in his next fight, a hometown (St. Louis) headliner next Saturday against the dangerous Marcos Maidana. The former 140 lb. titlist has struggled in each of his past three fights, and suffered the first knockdown of his career in his last fight, a controversial points win over Lucas Matthysse.

BoxingScene.com has been advised that manager Sebastián Contursi, on behalf of Marcos Maidana (31-2, 28KOs), made a request to Tim Lueckenhoff, Executive Director of the Missouri Office of Athletics, to include post-fight anti-doping tests in the scheduled welterweight fight with Devon Alexander (22-1, 13KOs).

BoxingScene.com caught up with former WBC/IBF junior welterweight champion Devon Alexander's trainer and manager, Kevin Cunningham, to talk about his pupil's ten round technical decision loss to Timothy Bradley on Saturday night. Cunningham also wanted to respond to a story that appeared on BoxingScene that was written by Chris LaBate. Junior welterweight contender Marcos Maidana was quoted in the article as stating that he thought Alexander would be too scared to step in the ring with him. The quotes from Maidana came from his Twitter account.

Junior welterweight Marcos Maidana is ready to face either WBO/WBC champion Timothy Bradley, or Devon Alexander, in his next fight. Like his rival Amir Khan, Maidana was not too impressed with Saturday's fight, where Bradley won a ten round technical decision over Alexander in Pontiac, Michigan. He called the fight "a fiasco." He wasn't sold by Alexander's eye injury that ended the fight in the tenth. Maidana felt Alexander was too scared to continue and doubts he would accept the challenge of a future fight.

This past Saturday at the Silverdome in Pontiac, Michigan, Timothy Bradley unified the WBO and WBC junior welterweight titles with a ten round technical decision over Devon Alexander. Bradley (27-0, 11 KOs) is now on the hunt for a big fight. Bradley's promoter, Gary Shaw, would like to make a fight between Bradley and Floyd Mayweather Jr.
