According to Boris Greenburg, a manager of highly regarded heavyweight power hitter Magomed Abdusalamov, the undefeated Russian banger will be one half of an explosive duo, which will collide as a part of the huge event, pre-planned for November 2 at the Madison Square Garden in New York, USA. The second half of the thrilling equation is Eire-based Cuban Ismaikel “Mike” Perez (19-0, 12 KOs).
Abdusalamov, 32, has an eye-popping record of 18-0, 18 KOs, with 11 KOs being scored in the starting round. The Russian fighter is rated #4 by the WBC and #10 by the WBA. Perez, 27, is best known for his win in the first international Prizefighter series in 2011, getting nods over solid third-tier opposition (Tye Fields, Gregory Tony and Kertson Manswell) en route to a coming out victory. His career has been marred by two lengthy lay-offs. He came back this May, getting a unanimous decision over Travis Walker.
“We’ve already reached the deal with Team Perez and HBO in principle”, said Greenburg to Allboxing.ru. “The official agreement will be signed in the coming days. As soon as it’s [signed], I’ll let you know of the details”.
The main event of the Boxing after Dark installment will feature world middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin next defense of the WBA title against dangerous KO artist Curtis Stevens. K2 and Main Events promote the event.
