According to Boris Grinberg, a well-known Russian-American who once served as Sultan Ibragimovs manager and who now works for Team Abdusalamov, the undefeated Russian kayo artist can face American fringe contender (or probably a gatekeeper now) Travis Walker in his next fight. The bout is tentatively scheduled for ten rounds and is scheduled to take place on January 14 at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, USA. No contracts are signed but both parties are very close to get a done deal.
30-year old former super heavyweight amateur standout from Russia has a perfect record of twelve wins, all by way of knockout (ten in the very first round). In his latest outing Magomed Abdusalamov, who is being guided by Pablo Sarmiento, stopped fellow prospect Rich Power (15-2, 11 KOs) in three.
We had a scheduled date on Dec. 16 but we badly needed a better opponent than Power, a major step up in class, and we have found none. We hope Walker will give Magomed some fits and will make it a competitive fight, added Grinberg.
The Freight Train Walker (38-7-1, 30 KOs), 32, a powerful American banger with a questionable chin, is 4-1, with 2 KOs and a one-sided loss to Kubrat Pulev, in 2011. He has been stopped five times in his career but in his recent couple of losses (against Pulev and Ruslan Chagaev) Walker lasted a full road.Tags: Magomed Abdusalamov
