BoxingScene.com has been advised that unbeaten super featherweight Diego Magdaleno (23-0) has injured his hand and his December 7th fight against Adailton De Jesus has been cancelled. The fight was to serve as the main event on Box Azteca at Texas Station Casino. Magdaleno injured his hand while sparring and is scheduled to have an MRI today. Assuming the MRI is clear, he is expected to return to the ring in February.
Magdaleno's spot will now be taken by undefeated welterweight Jessie Vargas (20-0, 9 KOs), who was originally scheduled to fight on the non-televised portion of the Manny Pacquiao-Juan Manuel Marquez card on December 8th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Vargas will face Vito Gasparyan (14-2-5, 8 KOs).
The televised portion of the Azteca card will now also consist of Oscar Gonzalez, and heavyweight Andy Ruiz versus Elijah McCall, and another fight to be determined.
