Undefeated Mexican-American Jessie Magdaleno is very confident as the weeks count down to his world title shot on the 5th of November at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
Magdaleno will fight for hiss first world championship against WBO super bantamweight king Nonito Donaire. The fight will be the co-featured attraction to the Manny Pacquiao vs. Jessie Vargas HBO Pay-Per-View card.
Jessie, unbeaten in 23 fights with 17 wins by knockout, believes he is reaching his peak physical form under Mexican coach Manuel Robles.
Magdaleno, 24-years-old, believes Donaire's best years are now behind him and he's not the same fighter who terrorized the lower weight divisions.
"I think Nonito is no longer in his prime. He's a little old at nearly 34-years-old. He's been in a lot of wars," Magdaleno said to ESPN Deportes.
"Nonito is a fighter who still has the punching power, but he will face a young fighter who will be ready - with quick reflexes, speed, punching power. I don't think it's going to be his night, it's going to be mine - because I feel for this fight I'm coming in there at my best, it's the perfect time."
"It's a dream come true. I am proud to be from Las Vegas, where we will fight for the world championship. I grew up there, my wife is from there, my son is from there. it's definitely a good feeling.
Donaire is now being trained by Cuban coach Ismael Salas, who at one point worked with Magdaleno but the undefeated fighter is not worried about that factor.
"I think he Manuel Robles is getting the best of me. We've been working very hard and I feel very good. Maybe he thinks I'm going to come out there fast and he's just going to knock me out, thinking I'm a novice - but I'm not."
