Top heavyweight contender Luis "King Kong '' Ortiz (25-0, 22 KO) is planning to put on a show when he faces Malik Scott on November 12th in Monaco.
A few months ago Ortiz parted ways with Golden Boy Promotions and his career appeared to be in limbo, but last week a blockbuster was announced when Eddie Hearn of UK-based Matchroom Sport revealed that he signed Ortiz to a promotional agreement.
Hearn is planning to keep Ortiz very busy with at least two fights before the year is over, and then intends to secure a major fight for him by next summer.
Ortiz feels blessed with a such a sudden turn of events with his career. The dangerous Cuban puncher is on the verge of a world title shot. Hearn wants to brings him along slowly to properly build up his stock.
Matchroom promote several top heavyweights, including the man who many view as the future of the division - IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua. Ortiz is expected to have his second fight of the year on the undercard of Joshua's next defense.
"He who perseveres will triumph. He who has faith will never doubt anything and has the right to succeed. I know a lot of people did not believe in my team, my promoter or my manager - when the decision was made [to leave Golden Boy]. We knew that it was for the best,' Ortiz told George Ebro.
"First of all, I want to thank Golden Boy because they brought me to the light and I did not leave without recognizing the work that was done, but then there were stumbling blocks. It was a separation by mutual agreement, without any damage. Now we go forward on a new road'.
"I think we expect something great [with Matchroom]. I hope for fights, good fights, important fights and they expect me to beat my opponents and do it the best way I know how, the hard way. I've seen that Scott has faced some considerable opponents and he has some experience - but he has never been measured against someone like me. I'm like a dog that goes out to find the hare."
"I do not know if he will go in the first, second or third, but he won't make it to the twelfth. I do not understand why people are still doubting my power, based on what I've done in the ring. My career has been about demolishing opponents and eliminating doubts. The important thing is that those who love me, those who know me very closely - for them I'm here. ''
"It's the time of King Kong, they have to let me out of the jungle to conquer the universe."
