Luis Cruz-Casey Ramos in The Works For 9/13 ESPN

By Ryan Burton

BoxingScene.com has been advised that negotiations are ongoing for Luis "El Artisano" Cruz (20-1) to face unbeaten prospect Casey Ramos on a special edition of ESPN Thursday Night Fights on September 13th at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Cruz is co-promoted by Cotto Promociones and Top Rank.

The 26 year-old Cruz bounced back from his loss to Juan Carlos Burgos this past November on the Manny Pacquiao-Juan Manuel Marquez undercard by blowing out Tomas Sierra in the 1st round of their fight in Mexico in June.

Ramos hails from Austin, Texas and sports a 16-0 record. He last fought on June 16th on the Julio Cesar Chavez Jr-Andy Lee undercard when he stopped Arthur Trevino in 5 rounds.

Cruz-Ramos would be the co-featured fight underneath the Jessie Vargas versus Aron Martinez main event as previously reported by BoxingScene's Rick Reeno.

Ramos has this one as long as he doesn't cut. He hits much harder than his record shows and will swarm Cruz. Lopsided win for Ramos.
