According to reports in Panama, the flyweight champion of the WBA, Panama's Luis 'El Nica' Concepcion (22-1, 17KOs), was gored by a bull over the weekend during a race in Feria de la Candelaria, in the western town of Bugaba, about 600 miles west of the capital. One report says he was was gored in the buttocks and remains hospitalized in the town bordering Costa Rica. But another report says the right thigh was the injured area.

The boxer's attorney, Rogelio Espino, complained about the discipline of the athlete because he did not attend last Friday's training session with the excuse that he had to travel to the western province of Chiriqui, where Bugaba is, to visit a family member with health problems. One report said Concepcion made a wrong manuever and that led to the bull's attack.

"This frustrates the negotiations for an upcoming fight in defense of his title," said Espino.
