"The Machine" Lucas Matthysse (34-3, 32KOs) will soon begin his training camp. The Argentine puncher is getting ready for his anticipated ring return in 2014. Matthysse has been out of the ring since suffering a twelve round decision loss to WBC/WBA 140-pound champion Danny Garcia last September on the Mayweather-Canelo undercard at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
During the fight with Garcia, Matthysse suffered an orbital bone injury that needed a few months to full heal, but now he is ready to go.
"Lucas will begin a full training camp on March 3. We are awaiting the finalized date [for his fight," said Mario Arano, the manager of Matthysse. "On Wednesday we are going to have a press conference with all the news regarding Lucas Matthysse."
Matthysse has been mentioned as a potential opponent for Adrien Broner and WBA welterweight champion Marcos Maidana.
