Junior welterweight contender Lucas Matthysse (33-2, 31KOs), the mandatory challenger to WBC/WBA champion Danny Garcia, has not taken his eye off Garcia. But the two fighters are going in different directions. Garcia faces former champion Zab Judah on April 27th in Brooklyn, and there are ongoing discussions to have Matthysse challenge IBF champion Lamont Peterson on May 18th.
"The World Boxing Council has ordered us to fight before the year's end. Now I am waiting for the outcome of his fight with Zab Judah on April 27. And I repeat, I want the full title," said Matthysse.
"Hopefully my next fight is in America. They like the way I fight. They said I could be the best pound for pound fighter at 140 and the World Boxing Council recently appointed me as the boxer of the month. More and more people are going to support me in the U.S.. And they know I didn't lose those fights against Judah and Alexander."
