Argentine junior welterweight contender Lucas Matthysse (35-3, 33KOs) continues to train hard in Argentina, under the orders of his coach Luis "Cuty" Barrera for his upcoming fight versus WBC silver champion Roberto Ortiz (31-0-1, 24KOs) of Mexico on September 6th. The Showtime televised fight takes place at the US Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds.

BoxingScene.com: What can you tell us about this training camp for the fight against Ortiz?

Barrera: We are very close to 140 pounds, two weeks before the fight. We want to fight for a title again, and we're coming to Cincinnati to win and Lucas will return to the elite in this class weight.

BoxingScene.com: If Lucas defeats Ortiz, do you believe he might face Danny Garcia again?

Barrera: Lucas is ready to face any champion, if it's Danny Garcia that would be great for us but Lucas will also be ready for all the best junior welterweights.

BoxingScene.com: When do you arrive to the United States?

Barrera: On Saturday, the evening of August 30, we are going to departure to the United States and arrive on Sunday, and on Monday - September 1st - we are going to train in the morning.

BoxingScene.com: How do you feel going into this fight with Ortiz?

Lucas: I'm fine. The [last] fight with [John] Molina gave me the opportunity to return to the United States to fight against Ortiz, and hopefully I'll fight for a title soon.

BoxingScene.com:  Are you coming ready to go to ten rounds?

Lucas: I'll knock Ortiz out. I know that Mexicans are very tough fighters, but I trust in myself and beating Ortiz could give me another chance for a title shot.

BoxingScene.com: You want to fight Danny Garcia again?

Lucas: Sure, but before that I need to beat Ortiz first. We respect everyone, but I'm ready to fight against all the best - Garcia, Broner or anyone else.
