LAS VEGAS, NV - BoxingScene.com caught up with WBC interim-junior welterweight champion Lucas Matthysse shortly after his vicious first round knockout victory over Mike Dallas at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.  He said that he was pleasantly surprised that Dallas brought the fight to him and didn't run around the ring.

"I thought that he would stay on the outside and box. I was very happy when he came out aggressive coming forward. We were able to put on a great fight," Matthysse explained.

The heavy handed Argentine is known for his power but said that was by far the best knockout of his career. He said that he was very happy to start off the new year with an exclamation.

"I am very happy to get such a great knockout. This was a great start to the year. I hope that everyone really liked it.

"I've never had a knockout like that. Nothing like that at all. That makes me very happy.  It is definitely the best knockout of my career," Matthysse told BoxingScene.com.

Lucas is moving on up!!! The destruction of Dallas Jr. was cooler, but LP is no doubt a more proven competitor so stopping him holds much more weight.
No didn't put him to sleep but he made him go into survival mode. I don't think it was a robbery either, it was a close fight but Lucas won 6 maybe 7 rounds IMO. Even if you gave Matthysse 6 rounds it would be 114-113 for Matthysse. I think Garcia has got a lot of hype since k...
Well Matthysse didn't put Zab to sleep.. I don't even think that fight was a robbery like others do, Zab beat him by winning the early rounds imo, so it will be a good gauge for Garcia but with the new rib and thumb injuries Garcia may just be ripe for the picking when the b...
Zab may get stopped but I highly doubt he get put to sleep like that. KO's like that don't happen that often. Pacquiao, Williams and Dallas. Even Tszyu didn't put Zab to sleep he just made him do the chicken dance.
Well Matthysse didn't put Zab to sleep.. I don't even ...
