Lucas Browne vs. Richard Towers is Off, Visa Issue
The West Australian reports that Richard Towers was denied a visa to enter Australia, which has forced the cancelation of his scheduled fight with Lucas Browne, a Commonwealth title eliminator on July 25th the Melbourne Pavilion in Flemington, Victoria, Australia. The Department of Immigration rejected Towers' application overnight because of his past criminal record.
Towers served six-and-a-half years of a 13-year prison sentence for conspiracy following the kidnapping and torture of a man. Now Browne's camp is scrambling to get a replacement.
"I'm p****d off hard that it's happened again, that I knew it was (going to happen again), that everyone should've known, and that I've been training hard for this fight and I'm now fighting someone else," Browne told thewest.com.au.

Seems like a real Mickey Mouse set-up. When they tried to do Chavez-Murray, those involved found out well beforehand that it couldn't take place because of Murray's criminal record. Yet here they only found out 5 days before the fight.…Comment by joe strong on 07-20-2013
