Egis Klimas is best known for managing the career of light heavyweight ruler, Sergey Kovalev, but his stable of boxers also includes a pair of featherweight belt-holders in Vasyl Lomachenko (WBO) and Evgeny Gradovich (IBF). He updated their immediate futures for BoxingScene.com.
Regarding Lomachenko, who captured the vacant title in June by decisively out-pointing Gary Russell last June and then defended the belt in Macao in November against Chonlartan Piriyapinyo, Klimas explained - "According to Bob (Arum) we're waiting for what's going to happen because he wants to put Lomachenko on a pay-per-view of Pacquiao."
Whether 'the Pac Man' faces Mayweather or somebody else - "That's where we're going to go," said Klimas.
As for Evgeny Gradovich, he must take of his mandatory defense versus Lee Selby from the UK.
"We've got a couple more days, the end of this week to see if we're going to reach an agreement with the English promoter (Eddie Hearn) and Top Rank. But it looks like right now everything is falling down where we will probably have to go to England," said Klimas of his fighter who is coming off a draw versus Puerto Rican, Jason Velez in late November.
Klimas continued, "HBO is turning down that fight because nobody knows Selby, they say he's not interesting in the United States, nobody knows him. I tried to talk to some of the promoters in Russia, it doesn't look like Russia can put that fight on till June or July, which would not be in that time frame according to the IBF. So it looks like we'll have no choice but to go to England."
