Gennady Golovkin’s reputation as a power puncher is clear — he’s knocked out 27 of his 30 opponents, including a third-round stoppage of Daniel Geale on Saturday night.

His promoter believes Golovkin can take just as well as he can dish.

“There’s no question about Gennady’s punching power, but there’s also, I think after tonight, no question about his chin,” Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions said at the post-fight press conference.

“He was in one of the biggest punchers, Curtis Stevens, in the middleweight division [last year] and didn’t get affected,” Loeffler said. “And after Daniel valiantly and bravely threw a big punch, and Gennady countered it, there’s just nobody who can stand up to his punching power — but also shows what kind of punch he can take and is willing to take and put on an exciting and impressive performance.”

Kovalev stops GGG...I'm taking bets on it.

[QUOTE=Sugar Adam Ali]I still haven't seen him face a truely big puncher, but so far from what I have seen from ggg is that he appears to have a solid chin. He defense isn't the best nor his head movement so ggg does get caught in just about every fight, but he seems to walk thru them and drop hi...

[QUOTE=TudorMiron]You got to watch his fights a bit more closely - 1st rounds in particular and first couple of rounds with Stevens who had a reputation on one punch KO artist. You'll see that GGG doesn't really get hit in the 1st - while he's probing his opponent moves and also power. That's whe...

[QUOTE=HEND]As smart is he when it's come to offense (good jab, cutting off the ring, precize, strong comibantion) the same simple is he when it comes to defense. He has a solid chin and he relies on it a little. Golovkin defense = his chin and sometimes a conservative high guard, otherwise he ha...
