New York, NY - Depending on the final buyrate figures for Gennady Golovkin’s first venture into the pay-per-view market, his likely million dollar live gate at a sold out Madison Square Garden proves he is an attraction.

But is he attractive enough for Miguel Cotto or Saul "Canelo" Alvarez?

Golovkin (34-0, 31KOs), who holds the WBA/IBO/IBF world titles, is also the mandatory challenger to the WBC championship, which is currently held by Cotto. The Puerto Rican star defends the title on November 21 against Canelo at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

The World Boxing Council has ordered the winner to face Golovkin next.

Tom Loeffler, the managing director of K2 Promotions, believes Golovkin is now more than lucrative enough for any potential opponent.

“It’s enticing for anyone to get in with Gennady now,” Loeffler told BoxingScene.com. “The financial structure is different now. “Couple that with the mystique of his 21 knockouts in a row of being the biggest puncher in the sport of boxing and that’s worth a lot.”

Loeffler fully expects that the winner of Cotto-Canelo will fight Golovkin. And if not, then next month's winner must vacate the WBC title.

“The fight will happen in 2016, whether it be the spring or summer,” stated Loefller. “But the winner could easily say I don’t want to fight. It’s clearly the biggest fight for either fighter, now that Floyd [Mayweather] isn’t in the sport. The winner of that fight will certainly jump to the top in terms of business. Fighting someone like Gennady will only be a bigger fight for the winner too.”

Should Cotto and Canelo decide not to fight Golovkin and choose not negotiate within 15 days, they will be stripped and Golovkin becomes the champion automatically. Loefller says either way Golovkin is a big fight for any middleweight.

“With the financials and revenue from this fight, it makes him (Golovkin) appealing. Gennady fighting any middleweight champion next year is going to be a mega fight.”
