Italian great Livio Minelli passed away in the United States at the age of 85. Minelli turned pro in Italy back in 1943 and won the EBU welterweight title in 1949.
 
In the United States, Minelli fought many of the greats from that era losing to the likes of Beau Jack, winning and losing to Johnny Bratton, losing to Kid Gavilan twice and also to Ike Williams and Johnny Saxton.
 
Minelli was managed by the legendary Umberto Branchini and went out with a record of 60-19-7, retiring in 1955.
