Les Sherrington is Ready For His Battle With Ponce

WBF World middleweight and WBO Asia Pacific champion Les “Lock N Load” Sherrington saw his opponent Esteban Ponce in the flesh for the first time at today’s final press conference ahead of their 10 round showdown as the main event on “There’s no easy way out” fight night this Friday night at the Townsville RSL stadium.

Both fighters look very relaxed ahead of the highly anticipated clash, with both fighters declaring they have had a great preparation.

“I’m the fittest I have ever been”, said Sherrington.

“We have had a great training camp and I am ready to showcase my skills on Friday night”.
Sherrington’s trainer Brendon Smith commended Sherrington on the great training camp they have had and said there are no excuses from their team.

“We have had a great run in, injury free, Les is well prepared and there are no excuses for this fight.”

Just as confident is the trainer of Esteban Ponce, Patricio Retandaro, who has seen Sherrington first hand having trained Oscar Veliz who lost a points decision to Sherrington last year.

“We know Les well and we have trained for this,” said Retandaro.

“We have had two months to prepare for this, Esteban is ready for Friday night”.

Another two fighter who met for the first time today were the boxers who will take part in the main undercard bout, Jack Asis and Revo Renkung. This is a make or break fight for both fighters and one Asis trainer Brendon Smith says “is personal” for the Philippine fighter.

“Revo is coming off a close 12 round loss to Thailand’s Terdsak, a fighter who holds a knockout victory over Jack earlier on in his career, so this will serve as somewhat redemption for Jack,” said Smith.

These fights plus more great fights are part of the “There’s No easy way out” fight card which will take place this Friday night at the Townsville RSL stadium. Tickets are $35 for general and $55 for ringside and are available at www.ticketshop.com.au or the civic theatre on 47 279 797.
