Leo Santa Cruz Stops Stephane Jamoye in Six Rounds

By Jhonny Gonzalez

In a fast paced battle, Leo Santa Cruz was proclaimed the new WBC world Youth junior bantamweight champion to effectively stop Belgian Stephane Jamoye in six rounds in Xalapa, Veracruz. An intense exchange of shots originated from the start of the thrilling contest before an excited crowd at the Interactive Museum of Veracruz.

Santa Cruz had the better technique and visibly stronger, and punished Jamoye round after round to the body and face. The brave European fighter never took a step back. The two warriors were connected with big punches until the end came in the sixth round, when Santa Cruz caught Jamoye on the liver and made him collapse to the canvas, and he was counted out.

Santa Cruz raised his record to 15 wins, with 7 by knockout, while Jamoye lost for the third time in his career, with 20 wins and 10 knockouts.
