Lenny Daws (30-3-2) and Ruben Nieto (16-1) fight for the vacant EBU super welterweight title with date and site to be announced. There were purse bids set for today in Rome but the parties came to an agreement and the fight will go ahead promoted by Hennessy Sports.
Both Daws and Nieto were beaten by ex EBU ruler Michele Di Rocco, who now will go for a WBA title as the sanctioning body ordered him to face interim-champion Jose Benavidez. But it should be noted that Benavidez's promoter, Top Rank, filed an appeal asking for the boxer to get a direct shot at the vacant WBA 'regular' title.
