LAS VEGAS - At the official weigh-in, it was announced to the live crowd that Lee Selby's mandatory defense of the IBF featherweight title was canceled after the Nevada State Athletic Commission refused to license challenger and former champion Jonathan Victor Barros.
The exact reason was not reveled at the present. It was said that Barros "did not meet the requirements" to be licensed by the NSAC.
EDITOR'S NOTE: Sources indicate that Barros did not pass his medical tests. There was apparently an issue with the results of his blood work.
The rest of the card is taking place as planned. A rematch between undefeated featherweight world champion Carl Frampton and former three-division world champion Leo Santa Cruz will headline at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and live on SHOWTIME.
Televised coverage of SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING begins at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT with undefeated lightweight world champion Dejan Zlaticanin battling former two-division world champion Mikey Garcia/
