Lebedev vs. Mormeck Could Land on June 29th in Paris

By Ruslan Chikov

According to boxing promoter/manager Vladimir Hryunov, the potential fight between WBA interim-cruiserweight champion Denis Lebedev (24-1, 18KOs), and former champion Jean Marc Mormeck (36-5, 22KOs), is still being discussed and the two sides have a agreed on a date - on June 29th in Paris, France.

The finalization of the fight is subject to the approval of the WBA. Mormeck is still not ranked by the WBA as a cruiserweight, after fighting as a heavyweight for the last few years. This past March, he was knocked out in four rounds by unified champion Wladimir Klitschko. Hryunov is waiting for Mormeck to enter the WBA's cruiserweight ranks in their upcoming update, but he doesn't know where the sanctioning body will rank the former champion.

When is this guy going to fight a real cruiserweight contender? James Toney, who somehow lost 50 LBS to make weight. RJJ, a blown-up, faded light heavyweight has-been, now this joke of a fight, the guy didn't even show up…
