Lawrence Okolie has confirmed that he will not box tonight.
The Hackney cruiserweight (2-0, 2 KOs) had been set to face Russ Henshaw on the undercard of Anthony Joshua’s world heavyweight title unification showdown against Wladimir Klitschko.
But due to time constraints and the fact that fight distances didn’t go his way, the 24-year-old won’t get the chance to showcase his skills in front of 90,000 people, exclusively live on Sky Sports Box Office, at Wembley Stadium.
“I’ve just been told [that] due to the [last] fight not being stopped, I don’t get to box today,” a visibly devastated Okolie revealed on Twitter alongside an image of himself in his tracksuit in the dressing room.
“I am beyond gutted. I actually feel sick.”
Further details regarding the next outing of Okolie are expected to be revealed by his promoter, Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport, in due course.
