OPI 2000 have cancelled the fight for the vacant EBU jr welter title between Giuseppe Lauri and Denis Shafikov that was scheduled for June 18 in Italy. Both men remain in their respective positions as mandatory challengers and the EBU have set June 20 as deadline for purse bids or agreements.
Italian heavyweight veteran Paolo Vidoz returns to action July 1 and takes on big Hungarian Gabor Farkas in Monfalcone. If all goes well Vidoz might fight Matteo Modugno for the national title during the fall.
Belgian veteran Ismail Abdoul returns to cruiser after fighting at heavyweight against Mike Perez last time out. Abdoul, who still insists his best weight is at light heavy, takes on Nuri Seferi July 2 in Vienna for the vacant WBO European title - which looks a little strange considering that the WBO had sanctioned Nenad Borovcanin vs Konstantin Semerdiev this past weekend for the WBO European interim title.
