Featherweight prospect Kamil Laszczyk survived a scare in outlasting Spain's Sergio Romero over eight rounds Friday evening in Dzierzoniow, Poland.

Scores were 77-75 (twice) and 78-75 in favor of Laszczyk.

The bout was entertaining throughout, with neither fighter able to gain a significant edge for very long. Lazsczyk is always prepared for a long night, with just two knockouts in his prior 11 bouts heading into Friday's headliner.

His lack of power allowed the rugged Romero to come forward and force a brisk pace, enjoying his moments but mostly making things as uncomfortable as possible for the local favorite.

There were no knockdowns in the the bout, or a threat of an early exit. Both fighters were bruised up by fights end, but Laszczyk did enough to avoid suffering his first career loss. The win advances his record to 18-0 (7KOs), in his first fight  since signing with adviser Al Haymon less than a month ago.

Romero falls to 7-4-3 (0KOs). The bout was his first outside of Spain.

UNDERCARD

Mariusz Wach ended a near two-year hiatus with an eight-round points win over energetic but overmatched Samir Kurtagic in the evening's co-feature.

The bout marked the first sighting of the hulking 6'7" Wach since his failed bid versus World lineal heavyweight king Wladimir Klitschko in Nov. '12. His ring entrance was complete with a Polish hip-hop group, perhaps the most entertaining part of the evening.

Kurtagic (12-7, 8KOs) was never competitive, but also never stopped trying as he managed to take the best of Wach and remain on his feet until the final bell. He was playful enough to act as if he won the fight upon the reading of the scores, but Wach (28-1, 15KOs) was a landslide favorite by tallies of 80-72, 79-73 and 80-73.

The 6'7" heavyweight takes on Samir Kurtagic (12-6, 8KOs), also scheduled for eight rounds.  Michael Gerlecki pounded out a six-round decision over Ivan Stupaio. The unbeaten light heavyweight scored a knockdown in round three, but struggled to get rid of the pesky Stupaio (8-7, 1KO). Scores were 60-54, 58-56 and 58-55 in favor of Gerlecki (8-0, 4KOs), who earlier this month celebrated his one-year anniversary in the pro ranks.

Nikodem Jezewski was extended six hard rounds versus Toni Visic, scoring a unanimous decision in a cruiserweight bout that was more competitve than at least two of the cards indicated.

The knockout power suggested on Jezewski's record hasn't been as evident in his past few bouts. Visic (14-15-1, 4KOs) took note of this and made a fight out of the night, forcing his unbeaten foe to dig a little deeper than expected. Jezewski (8-0-1, 5KOs) did enough to get the win, taking the fight by scores of 58-56, 59-55 and 60-54.

Damian Wrzesinski scored a six-round decision over tough-as-nails Croatian journeyman Antonio Horvatic in their lightweight bout. The fight was one way over the course the six-round affair, but Horvatic (5-9. 3KOs) proved a difficult foe to put away as the local lightweight had to settle for a lopsdied decision.

Scores were 60-54 across the board in favor of Wrzesinks (6-0, 3KOs), who has now been forced to go the scorecards in each of his past three starts.

Ewa Brodnicka (5-0, 2KOs) preserved her unbeaten record with a second-round injury stoppage of Latvia's Jekaterina Lecko (2-2, 1KO).
