Heavyweight great Larry Holmes sees some very big things for 24-year-old prospect Anthony Joshua (3-0, 3KOs). The 2012 Olympic gold medal winner turned pro in October and returns to the ring on February 1st at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff, Wales. Holmes warned that Joshua's promoter, Matchroom Sport, should avoid the possibility of wearing out the young boxer by placing him in the ring too often.

Holmes told Express and Stars: “He’s the one that everyone is focusing on right now and has a lot of potential. He punches good, there are things that he does wrong but he’s just a kid. His quickness makes up for the things that he does wrong and, with the right training, I think you have got a champion here. Just don’t use him too much, let him take his time, remember he’s only 23-years-old. If I was his age again, I would be champion for a long time.

“They can’t rush him. When I was there, they were on about putting him back in the ring next week. They should have been letting him correct some of the mistakes he made in his last fight. By putting him back in the ring, he’s not learning, particularly if the guys he is going in with are not of high quality. What good does that do?

“The fights shouldn’t get easier but, if you train right, the result should stay the same right across the board. Maybe he could even beat my record. I told him that when I was there that night."

[QUOTE=Keitha313]I vote senile, he must not of seen much of him in the amateurs. Anthony Joshua will be ripe for the picking by a fighter in the same mould as Povetkin, I honestly don't even think Joshua will reach the same level as Alexander Povetkin... Perhaps I'm biased but one thing I can a...

[QUOTE=Box Up!]Bless Larry, i've interviewed him on 3 separate occasions, and whilst a gentleman, let me tell you this, he's not the sharpest tool in the box! It's FAR too soon to be talking about AJ in any light. Just let the kid crack on, no predictions, no hype, no new dawn, just yet. Trust...
