WBA 'regular' junior middleweight champion Erislandy Lara (19-1-2, 12KOs) is looking for some payback on July 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Lara faces Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (43-1-1, 31KOs) in the main event of a Showtime Pay-Per-View card.

Lara, who is advised by Al Haymon, is apparently included in the group of boxers who are fighting under the Golden Boy Promotions banner but don't actually have a binding promotional contract with their company.

"Canelo is Golden Boy's boxer, that's why I'm going after him. I used to be a part of Golden Boy but now I have nothing to do with them. They gave him the best fights and me being a better boxer than him, they ignored me. They threw me to the wolves so they could take my head off. Thankfully I came out on top, always proving myself and proving myself until now and we are here facing Canelo," Lara stated.

Following Canelo's victory over Alfredo Angulo in March, Lara confronted him at the post fight press conference. The Cuban boxer saw that as the only way to secure the match.

"There was no other way for me to get this fight other than approaching him during the press conference. In front of all the cameras, Showtime was there, the whole world was there. And it was my idea to confont him with the cameras, to show that it's not me - that he doesn't want to fight," Lara said. Tags: Saul Alvarez , Erislandy Lara , Canelo-Lara , Canelo vs. Lara

Let's not forget that Angulo was beating his ass, round after round. Yes, he lost, but the "master boxer" is not such a master if a crude slugger like Angulo put hands on him all night and knocked him down more than once. Canelo is gonna beat him up. His skill set is very underrated.

[QUOTE=turnedup]Boxing is a business and it's something these guys don't get. Not everyone is going to be a star and this ain't medical practice where the best always gets treated as such. Canelo brings women to the fight game, it would be dumb of his promoter to not put a heavy focus on that..th...
