Junior middleweight contender Erislandy Lara (15-1, 10KOs) was impressed with James Kirkland's big win on Saturday night in Cancun, Mexico. Kirkland (31-1, 27KOs) gave his career a much needed boost with a sixth round stoppage of Alfredo Angulo. Lara was trying to land a spot on the Kirkland-Angulo undercard. He even tried to fight both of the main eventers, but he was rejected by both camps.

But Lara still wants a piece of Kirkland.

"First I want to congratulate Kirkland on a great win. It was definitely a pleasure to watch. But now it's time to put up or shut up. I will instruct my manager Luis DeCubas Jr. to do everything possible to secure me Kirkland. We are both Golden Boy fighters and it shouldn't be hard to make. Now that Kirkland feels like Superman again - it's time to un-dress him. I doubt Kirkland will respond and they will try to find a way out of this fight. All I have to say is  - sign the contract and get your jailhouse beat down. Period," Lara said.

kirkland deserves his shot at the title next,he shouldn't be made to fight anyone else but alvarez, then he can talk about the other champions or lara, heck i think molina deserves a shot at kirkland too(assuming kirkland were to face alvarez and beat him)

[QUOTE=ИATAS206;11384212]isn't kirkland the guy who got KO'd by Ishida? Not everyone has perfect careers. Lara may have got a gift against Molina, but he went on to absolutely beat the crap out of Paul Williams. Likewise with Kirkland, he got TKO'd then beat the crap out of Angulo. B...
