Lara: Canelo, Angulo Talk More About Me Than Each Other

By Elisinio Castillo

WBA interim-junior middleweight champion Erislandy Lara reacted to the recent comments that were made by Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-1-1, 30KOs), who said in his opinion Alfredo Angulo did not quit during the tenth round of last year battle with Lara.

Angulo (22-3, 19KOs), who had Lara down twice in the fight, was unable to continue after suffering an eye injury in the tenth round - cause by a punch from Lara.

Canelo will face Angulo this coming Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

"Angulo did not quit, he called timeout. Canelo and Angulo have talked more about me during this promotion than each other. They know I'm the best junior middleweight in the world and they want to avoid me. At the end of the day, the boxing public knows that Canelo doesn't have that real Mexican heart. All of the Mexicans great...Chavez, Marquez, Sanchez, Barrera, Morales....all fought the best with no excuses. Even Chavez Jr., I respect him more than this kid because he wants to fight the best. Canelo only fought Mayweather for the money, which is fine because you need to get paid but he doesn't want be great and that's the problem. Boxing is also about respect, dignity and heart which he lacks," Lara stated.
He's not ducking. It's not as if he's taking a soft touch here. He's rebuilding from his loss to Mayweather, taking a tough, but beatable guy in Angulo. In case you're new to boxing, this is what guys do after…
The boring runner just needs to stop talking. Canelo just needs to ignore this guy. There's no money there. Runners are high risk, low reward. Fight Kirkland next. Let Lara fight another boring runner. Let them rot in the ring.
…

If Lara thinks he is so damn good, why doesn't he call out for Floyd? Afraid of being out-ran and out-ducked? That would probably be one of the most boring fights ever, action wise, but technique wise, for those so-called…

Schaefer needs to pursue Lara vs Angulo II next. Then wait for Cotto for Canelo. I'd like to see Angulo retire the boring runner.

Lara doing his best to get a big fight with Canelo , good for him . These three have been talking a lot about each other lately and I do think Lara's name is slowly building . It certainly can't…
