Sauerland Event have confirmed that the International Boxing Federation [IBF] has officially approved Tony Thompson (38-3, 26 KO's) vs. Kubrat Pulev (17-0, 9 KO's) as a final heavyweight eliminator. The fight is being put together for August 24th in Germany. Both fighters have signed for the fight. Pulev has been searching for an opponent for some time, after Tomasz Adamek and Tyson Fury withdrew from their eliminator spots. Thompson is coming off back to back knockout victories over David Price. The winner of Thompson-Pulev will be the mandatory challenger to the winner of the October clash between Wladimir Klitschko and Alexander Povetkin.
Tough fight for Pulev. His best weapon is his jab, but a tricky southpaw like TT can take that away.. I see this as a 50/50 fight but I hope Pulev can get the W, we already know what happens when Wlad fights Thompson.
I hate to think about it because I don't want to see...

I was leaning toward Pulev before but now that I see how soon it is I'm gonna say Pulev strongly. I think that gives him a bigger edge than his inactivity gives Tony. Maybe I'm wrong but that's what I think.
